E-mail: m.modell@ucl.ac.uk I have been a community governor at Blanche-Nevile for the past 3 years with special responsibility for Numeracy. I am also Chair of the Curriculum Committee. My work background was medical academia. I was a general practitioner for thirty years at the James Wigg Practice in the Kentish Town Health Centre, a large multiethnic practice which pioneered the concept that primary care should be provided by a team made up of health professionals from many different disciplines, not just doctors. I was also a member of the Department of Primary Care at University College, and responsible for teaching medical students about the practice of medicine in the community, outside teaching hospitals. After I retired I became a governor at a secondary school for boys with behavioural difficulties and am also the Chair of Crossroads Care Camden, a charity dedicated to providing support for carers who look after a relative or friend. We have lived in the same house in Haringey for 44 years, in recent years sharing it with our daughter and her family. This has meant that two of our grandchildren went to the same primary school (Highgate Primary) as did our children in the 1970s. |
