Spoken Language

Many of our children have good access to spoken language through their cochlear implants or powerful hearing aids. We are committed to supporting their understanding and development of spoken language and Teachers of the Deaf work closely with Speech and Language Therapists and other staff to ensure that language targets for children are carried out on a daily basis as part of our good practice in teaching and learning.

Our strong links with our mainstream partnership schools mean that individual inclusion programmes are designed to maximise opportunities for our children to have access to good spoken language models from their peer groups.

We liaise with professionals from the cochlear implant teams to ensure continuity and sharing information and expertise.
