Speech and Language Therapy

Our two Speech and Language Therapists work in partnership with Teachers of the Deaf to support pupil's speech, language, and communication development according to their Statement of Special Educational Needs.

The range of therapy offered includes: developing communication and language through play: focussing on specific aspects of communication in small group, paired or individual sessions as appropriate; 'Live English' groups (where spoken English only, or Sign Supported English, or BSL is the language used in the group, depending on the pupil's needs), developed for deaf children, where pupils learn the necessary language, skills and strategies to communicate successfully with hearing people in real life situations.

Parents/carers are encouraged to be involved with their child's therapy programme.
